Privacy Policy

1. Who We Are
EasyTools.ca is a free Canadian online tools website operated by DigitalFix, based in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. We provide free calculators, checkers, and generators for Canadians. You can contact us at support@digitalfix.ca.
2. Information We Collect
Information you provide: There are exactly two ways to send us personal information, and both are things you choose to do.
- Contact form — we collect your name, email address and message, used solely to reply to you.
- Newsletter signup — we store your email address and the date you subscribed, and nothing else. We do not store your IP address or the page you signed up from. To prevent abuse, a one-way hash of your IP address is held briefly with a timestamp and automatically discarded within the hour; it is never stored alongside your email and cannot be reversed to identify you. You can unsubscribe or ask us to delete your address at any time.
Information collected automatically: When you visit EasyTools.ca, we may collect standard web server logs including your IP address, browser type, pages visited, and time of visit. We and our analytics and advertising partners may also collect device and usage information through cookies and similar technologies (see the Analytics, Advertising, and Cookies sections below).
Every tool on this site runs entirely in your browser. All 44 calculators — rent, mortgage, salary and paycheque, RRSP/TFSA/FHSA, capital gains, CPP and OAS, child benefit, budget, debt payoff, net worth, property tax, postal code tax lookup and the rest — are pure JavaScript, executed on your own device. The figures you type are never sent to our servers, never stored, and never transmitted anywhere. Closing the tab discards them.
Nothing you enter is transmitted, logged or stored. There is no server-side calculation on this site at all. The figures you type never leave your device, are never written to our servers, and are discarded the moment you close the tab. This applies without exception to every calculator.
Until August 2026 the site also hosted three network utilities (a DNS checker, a website down checker and an IP lookup) that did send input to our server. Those tools have been permanently removed, along with the third-party geolocation service and the IP-based rate limiting they required. No part of the site performs server-side lookups any more.
3. Analytics — Google Analytics & Microsoft Clarity
We use two analytics services to understand how visitors use EasyTools.ca:
Google Analytics 4 (GA4): collects anonymised data including pages visited, time on site, general geographic location (country/region level), device type, and referral source. We have enabled IP anonymisation, meaning your full IP address is never stored by Google Analytics. GA4 uses cookies (_ga, _ga_*) to distinguish visitors. You can opt out by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Microsoft Clarity: we partner with Microsoft Clarity to capture how you use and interact with our website through behavioural metrics, heatmaps, and session replay. Clarity may record mouse movements, clicks, scrolls, and page navigation using cookies and similar technologies. Clarity automatically masks the content of text and number fields by default, so the specific values you type into our calculators are not recorded. This data is used to diagnose usability issues and improve the site, and is governed by the Microsoft Privacy Statement.
For more information on how Google uses your data, see Google’s Privacy Policy.
4. Advertising (Google AdSense)
EasyTools.ca may display advertising served by Google AdSense, a third-party advertising service operated by Google LLC.
Third-party vendors and ad networks, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to EasyTools.ca and other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
Third parties may also use cookies, web beacons, and similar technologies to collect or receive information from EasyTools.ca and elsewhere on the internet, and use that information to measure ad performance (impressions and clicks) and to provide advertisements about goods and services likely to be of greater interest to you.
How to control or opt out of personalised advertising:
- Opt out of personalised Google ads at Google Ads Settings or My Ad Center.
- Opt out of many third-party vendors’ advertising cookies at aboutads.info, youradchoices.ca (Canada), or youronlinechoices.eu (EU/UK).
- Disable advertising cookies directly in your browser settings.
For details on how Google uses data from sites that use its services, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
5. Cookies
EasyTools.ca uses the following categories of cookies and similar technologies:
Preference (et-theme): a localStorage entry that saves your light/dark/system theme choice. Stored locally in your browser only — never sent to our servers.
Analytics cookies: Google Analytics (_ga, _ga_*) and Microsoft Clarity set cookies to distinguish visitors, measure usage, and record session interactions.
Advertising cookies: where advertising is enabled, Google AdSense and its partners set cookies to serve, cap, and measure ads — including personalised ads based on your browsing (see the Advertising section above).
Security (Cloudflare Turnstile): our contact form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to prevent spam, which may set cookies as part of bot detection. See Cloudflare’s Privacy Policy.
You can disable or delete cookies in your browser settings. This will not affect any calculator on the site — they run entirely in your browser and do not rely on cookies. Only the contact form depends on a cookie, for bot protection.
6. Your Consent Choices (EEA, UK & California)
Visitors in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Switzerland: where required by the GDPR and the ePrivacy Directive, a consent message is presented before non-essential analytics or advertising cookies are set. You may grant or refuse consent and can change your choice at any time. Where consent is refused, any ads shown are limited to non-personalised advertising, which relies on contextual information rather than your browsing history.
Visitors in California (CCPA/CPRA): we do not sell your personal information for money. However, the sharing of online identifiers with advertising partners to deliver personalised ads may be considered a “sale” or “sharing” under California law. You may opt out using the advertising opt-out links in Section 4, or by enabling the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal in your browser.
All visitors: you can opt out of analytics and personalised advertising at any time using the tools described in the Analytics and Advertising sections, or by adjusting your browser cookie settings.
7. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Respond to contact form inquiries
- Understand how visitors use our tools (via anonymised analytics)
- Improve and maintain the website
- Display and measure advertising that helps keep the site free
- Detect and prevent abuse or spam
- Comply with legal obligations
8. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information for money.
We share data only with the following service providers as necessary to operate the site and, where enabled, to serve advertising:
- Google LLC — Analytics (Google Analytics 4) and, where enabled, advertising (Google AdSense)
- Microsoft Corporation — product analytics and session replay (Microsoft Clarity)
- Cloudflare Inc. — CAPTCHA (Turnstile) and DNS/CDN services
9. Data Retention
Contact form submissions are retained in our email inbox for as long as necessary to respond to your inquiry, then deleted.
Google Analytics data is retained for 14 months by default, as configured in our GA4 property. Microsoft Clarity retains behavioural and session data in accordance with Microsoft’s retention policies. Advertising cookies set by Google and its partners are retained per those providers’ policies.
Web server logs are retained for up to 30 days for security purposes.
10. Your Rights (PIPEDA & GDPR)
As a Canadian resident, you have rights under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), including the right to:
- Access personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Withdraw consent to collection or use of your information
- Lodge a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada
If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you additionally have rights under the GDPR/UK GDPR, including the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and to object to processing (including profiling for advertising).
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@digitalfix.ca.
11. Children’s Privacy
EasyTools.ca is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children or knowingly serve personalised advertising to them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
12. External Links
Our tools and guides may contain links to external websites (such as the Ontario LTB, CRA, and other government resources), and advertisements may link to third-party sites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites. We encourage you to review their privacy policies.
13. Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information, including HTTPS encryption site-wide, CAPTCHA on the contact form, and regular security reviews. Because the calculators are entirely client-side, there is no user-submitted calculation data on our servers to protect in the first place. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, including as our analytics or advertising practices change. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of EasyTools.ca after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
15. Contact Us

Summary in plain English: Every calculator on this site runs in your browser — the numbers you type never reach us, ever. There is no server-side calculation of any kind. The only personal information we receive is what you deliberately send us through the contact form, or your email address if you subscribe. We use Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity to see how the site is used, and Google AdSense may serve ads. You can opt out of personalised advertising and of analytics at any time, and you can ask us to delete anything we hold about you.
